DWIV-DemonHuntress-Concept by Zeronis DWIV-DemonHuntress-Concept by Zeronis
Dominance War IV has commenced! The Ultimate battle between Concept Artists from around the world. I'm really excited to participate in this war even though I'm probably gonna have a nervous breakdown eventually from all the pressure and stress! I have my own forum team so far, CGSociety, and have a thread started where I will be posting all the weekly progress reports. I will also start a thread on my DA page so you guys can give constructive critiques or see how I design and paint my character.

Here's a brief story of the topic!

[The two heroes in the third Great War for Dominance foresaw what would happen if Machines were allowed to continue their hostilities, but it was too late. 5 year’s after their sacrifice to end Machines’ disruptive means for war with unstable dimensional travel, the sinister threat they foretold, emerged!

...Reality collapsed...

ahmm i don't know. but my opinions would be:
-disturbed by the SIZE of that chopsticks-like hair accessory at her back. (nah, maybe im just comparing it to real-life size ^_^)
-worries on the bare nakedness of her mother...

all in all this work o yours, all of it... well, they don't have that word yet in the dictionary. might as well treat you as the modern age davinci or something. cause they really have to credit you for your work.
if this current civilization cease, i wish it would be your work to tell the story... in this same manner ^_^

You should put underwear... after all she is a *woman* (how to tell softly... hmm... in that time of the month... she would be very messy... oO' )

Well, i like the idea of someone protecting her, is sweet :aww: About the headpiece, is nice but remember that it would be kinda heavy/not handy in battle, if she's not a magician or something alike.
Also, i've imagined some piercings on her X3 Or, at least, some stuff in silver associated.
And why that stripe? Between her breasts?

Ceres? I remember Ceres being the goddess of crops in Roman mythology. I seemed weird to read "demonic humanoid" in the bracket next to it.
Next: I vote for panties. Women need panties! Besides, I don't mean to be gross, but she must have a period too, right? :D Dunno how I feel about her always being protected by her mommy, it's not very warrior-like. How about if it were some ancient spirit or something?
Other than that, she's gorgeous and her face just kills me. I can't wait to see a more detailed version!

Great piece of work on this. I'm liking the overall composition from the colors to the style and the sleek/slender beauty of it all. In response to your questions/statements on the art: long feathers for skirt - I'm liking it the way it is. The loose, worn and weathered clothing looks casual; it doesn't stick out and it isn't a distraction. By adding feathers I think it could draw away from the rest of the artwork and might raise questions about where they came from or what they mean. Panties or pantiless - I would vote for panties. She has her upper body covered, so why wouldn't the other part be as well. And again - without it that could prove to be a distraction to some people and draw away from the rest of the piece. I'm liking the glowing jade stone - if it released smoke or whatnot I'm not sure what that would add to the artwork, or possibly put it somewhere else on her body. Having smoke originating from the top of the head just seems a bit odd; from the waist however, that might not be so bad. Finally, the mother statue is a nice touch, it appears unique; at least I haven't seem something like it before. I do think that she should have a weapon, the idea of the statue transforming into a weapon is a nice one - however I think personally carrying a weapon would be more practical for a dangerous situation. You could always do a staff that transform into a scythe or something along those lines.

This project is really looking good, I can't wait to see more progress - and good luck!

I would even exaggerate the idea with the feathers - what about indicating a complete wing? (( with soft long feathers exactly following the bend on the setch))

The left side looks like leahterstraps that can easily make a suitable cover also for the backside (panties wouldnt be roleplay enough for me here!)

She looks a bit warlockish to me. Something flashy for her hands, s sort of staff, wand or even christal ball(?) Would maybe make a nice assessoir for her.

yeh long featehrs would look better (in my opinion), skirts mustn´t be very short all the time, a long one could also give more myterious and elegance to it..^^
please give her some panties, she´s surely freeing her ass off..heh:3
all in all a really great concept:clap:!

I commented on the poll, but I didn't see this journal until today O.o. It gave me more stuff to say, lol.

Generally speaking, I like 5's torso the best, 3 from the waste down, 1's glowing arm/shoulder and if you want a more "plate armor" look 1's torso is an appealing design as well.

1) I don't like the buckles on the boots, but otherwise it's an appealing design. It's really well balanced as to where you put the glowing parts of her armor. Like someone said, if you're doing a good/evil comparison, this would be a cool outfit for a "good guy".

2) I like the shoulders, but the outfit as a whole is somewhat too much. Each part is interesting though.

3) I agree with whoever said this has more of a "rogue" look than a demon hunter look. It's a really well balanced design, but the top half doesn't scream "demon hunter" to me. I like the sweeping skirt and the boots though.

4) The head piece is interesting, and could work really well with more detail, and I like the waist part of this one. I like the boot design but they seem plain compared to the first 3.

5) This one definitely seems like a demon hunter to me. The torso is awesome. The headpiece is cool, but I can see some of your others working there too. Her boots seem too plain for the top part of her armor, though. As in the first one, if you're doing a good and evil version this design would make a sexy "bad guy".

As for the weapon, a scythe would be cool. I think a blade of light, or a metal blade with glowing swirls mimicking the glow on 1's arm would be cool, especially if you use that concept from 1.

I think instead of having the mother's statue float around her, maybe it could float above her and an energy emanating from the statue would create the shield protecting her from demonic powers. In my opinion the statue should be a separate object from the scythe but it's ultimately up to you.

I'd go for the statue turning into something for the pure rarity of it and it's uniqueness. But, on the other hand for a more original all eye opener maybe you could try making the Scythe itself's handle have the statue engraved over it. Maybe mirror the reflection of her face on the blade as well?

Just my two cents!

I love the headpiece you put on there. And like many people I'm eager to see the scythe that would match your huntress.

As for the skirt, something ragged, maybe feather-ishly oriental may match the headpiece ^__^

if that's going to be her fighting outfit, then i would make each thing that looks impractical (such as the headdress) have some kind of use, like storing magical power or something. a giant white scythe made of something other-worldly would be really cool too. i love her face and hair, and im sure this concept will turn out amazing once youre finished!

Absolutely Great...45 mins..sigh I wish I could draw something that fast and well.

The Character reminds me of an Amazon, but with some sort of magic powers.

For the weapon I would go for a Pike with glowing straps.

Rule of thumb when designing characters -

If the Character will have an emphasis on...

Strength & Heavy Melee: Give him/her armor that utilizes either chain mail or plate armor (metal).

Agility & Melee Combat: Give him/her armor that uses leather as a protective medium.

Spellcasting & Ranged Combat: Give him/her light armor or clothing-based armor (similar to what you have here right now).

Spellcasting & Melee Combat: You'd want to wear something that protects you from physical attacks regardless of being a spellcaster! So leather armor is a must.

For leather armors, the material is so flexible you can craft the outfit into dresses - it will not freely flex like clothing, though. The advantage is retaining your agility and flexibility while avoiding being totally unprotected.

Of course, for high fantasy settings you can ignore these rules - but it means ignoring the usual rules of physical damage from physical weapons. In a game setting a lot of people would be going "WTF, I slashed him/her with a great axe and they're barely wearing a leaf! Why isn't he/she dead!?"

No problem. It helps to maintain a degree of plausibility in your character designs, lest you end up like Hyung-Tae Kim's works: [link] <-- Girl in a dress with a katana - no support, no real physical protection whatsoever. She'd be kibble in an instant. =P
