Lord Yupa by Zeronis Lord Yupa by Zeronis
his was recently done for the character design class with Kevin Chen and Hong Ly at Art Center.
Definitely one of my favorite classes that I took.

UPDATE:
To be clear, This is my iteration, an iteration as a video game perhaps, my take on the story Nausicaa. It's not meant to compete with Studio Ghibli's version. This not a fanart, therefore the characters may seem entirely different from the originals.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments! really appreciate it! I do read them, I apologize for not being able to reply to every one of them.

Glad to see you added a hat. :D
I don't think this can be compared to Miyazaki/Ghibli's work in the first place. His designs were intended for comics and 2D animation, meaning they had to be easy to draw again and again. Here, it's pretty much meant to be modeled and run in some huge 3D engine by some huge game studio who can afford this technology...

It's definitely interesting to see this, it's truly amazing work, but if the goal is to tell a story with limited resources, then Miyazaki's original designs are probably still superior.

Love this! So much detail, and just curious is that a dead bird attached to his scabbard, is it a dead bird perhaps? :P
