This was recently done for the character design class with Kevin Chen and Hong Ly at Art Center.
Definitely one of my favorite classes that I took.

UPDATE:
To be clear, This is my iteration, an iteration as a video game perhaps, my take on the story Nausicaa. It's not meant to compete with Studio Ghibli's version. This not a fanart, therefore the characters may seem entirely different from the originals.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments! really appreciate it! I do read them, I apologize for not being able to reply to every one of them.

Whilst I at first disagreed on the take of Nausicaa alone (not her style) but Yupa and Kushana absolutely make up for it, and now Nausicaa seems like a plausible version seeing the style of the other two. I like it a lot! It's possible to imagine the personas come alive in these characters, BUT, the kind of character you've given Kurotowa is completely wrong in my book, he may be selfish and in some ways deceiving, but at heart he's very down to earth and actually caring. The aristocratic skinny look of a royal advisor doesn't fit -> he is a rugged soldier and a good pilot too, very loyal and actually has a decent sense of right.

In fact, Kurotowa is a very "Miyazakian figure," if my turn of phrase would be so kindly excused: he originally seems rather cowardly and stand-offish, but that is because he is a cynic who has grown disgusted and remains consistently annoyed though somewhat amused (at times) with all which is going on in a ruined, ruinous world; rather than cowardice, it is actually that "dog-eat-dog" attitude of his which he has no care to make look much better, given his original mission and how allegiances shifted so drastically and, at the exact same time, so rationally... Him becoming a vassal to Kushana and then aligning with Nausicaä's campaign is not a mere coincidence or some incomprehensible whim of the author, but a strong character portrayal.

However, I still find myself rather bugged at the above reworking of the characters for various reasons.
